159. Robert de [26] Stafford (Nicholas de, 163) (Cpt.Peerage, P169) ("Robert de Stafford, s. and h. Between 1138 and 1147 he notified the bishops of Worcester and Chester of his gift of his chapel of Stafford to Stone Priory; in 1155 he was an arbitrator, and was sheriff of co. Stafford. In 1166 he returned his Carta [He had 60 fees of the old foeffment, 51 held by knight service and 9 on the demesne; and he had 3 manors in his own hand, for which he did the service of 3 knights] and in 1167-8 he accounted for the aid for the marriage of the King's da. from his 60 knights. He last appears in the Pipe Rolls in 1177-78, and probably d. between that date and 1184-85. He m. Avice, and was bur. at Stone with his wife." ). Born, circa 1110 (??). Died, circa 1182 (?).
