1633---Assessed 9 sh. tax

1634---Oct. 1, on committee appointed by the Gov. and council to consider trade.

1636---Mar. 7, on list of freemen; June 7, on jury; Mar. 7, Grand Jury.

1639---May 15, Elected to Governor's Council to enact laws; June 4, Deputy to Court at Plymouth.

1640---Oct. 5, Granted upland at the head of his lot.

1641---Sept. 16, Granted 3 acres upland and 8 acres of meadow.

1642---Sept. 27, Deputy at Court to consider war against Indians.

1643---On list of those between 16-60, able to bear arms; this included his sons, John, Thomas and Samuel.

1644---With Miles Standish and one other to audit account of Thos. Prince.

1654---Deputy for Plymouth to meet at Conn. for Conference.

 

This record concerning John Dunham is also taken from the records: "He was a man of strict honesty and sterling character, quite prominent in the growth and prosperity of the Colony."

 

Deacon John Dunham's inventory of possessions was made on 16 March 1668/9. ). Born, 1589, in Scrooby, Notts, England. Died, 2 Mar 1668/9, in Plymouth, MA. Occupation: Linen-Weaver. Individual flags: DirAnc.

 

He married, first, Susanna Kenney\Keno (LEYDEN 134, verso 1B, P. XLIX), -17 Oct 1619, in Leyden, Holland. Born, circa 1591 (??) in England?. Died, circa 1622, in Leyden, Holland. Children:

 

i. John (Jr) 12-1197 (SDM-, P22, ROTH, to Susan Williams, 14 Apr 1990) (John Jr. immigrated with his father, Deacon John, and family from Leyden, Holland, probably on the second Mayflower arriving at Plymouth in 1629. In 1641 he became a freeman, was on a grand jury and was able to bear arms. On March 7, 1643 he was granted 30 acres northeast of Cook's Pond, and on January 19, 1647 was given six acres by his father. In 1659 he was granted land to be selected at Sconsett. In 1660 he was granted 30 acres on the west side of the Nanskett. The following year he was appointed Highway surveyor. In 1662 he was granted land to be selected in Sconsett, and another 30 acres in 1674. His will was made in Plymouth on February 2, 1691 and was probated in 1692. ). Born, circa 1616 (?), in Leyden, Holland. Died, 1692, in Wellsfleet, Easton, MA (John died in his 77th year.). He married Mary ( Dunham ) (ROTH, to Susan Williams, 14 Apr 1990), circa 1641, in Plymouth, MA. Reference: SDM1.

 

ii. Thomas 12-2 (SDM-, Pp19, 25-26). Born, before 1621 (?), in Leyden, Holland (May have been born in Zevenhuyzen, Holland). Note 1: Aug 1643, in Plymouth, MA (On Plymouth Rolls as a Private or Non-commissioned officer.). Note 2: 1 Jun 1648, in Plymouth, MA (Will of Thomas Knott: "To Thomas Dunham if he marries my dau, Martha"). Immigration: 1629, in Plymouth, MA (Probably Mayflower, second voyage (No Passenger List)).
