Computer instruction classes at Dunham

Buying and Selling on Amazon.com

Do you have books, DVDs, CDs or anything else you no longer want or need? Why not earn some money from them? This hour-long session will teach you how to set up an account to buy and sell items on Amazon.com. Participants will need to bring a valid library card, a credit card and the number of either a savings or checking account. Be assured, your information is secure. Classes will be held on the following dates at 2:00PM: March 9, 15, 22 and March 29

 

Information at Your Fingertips

Do you think that the Mid-York Library System web page is only for locating and reserving books and other items? If so, you might be surprised at the wealth of other information available, including best seller lists, the addresses of local and national officials, access to thousands of newspapers and magazines, health information, suggestions for children's books, information about other libraries in the area and much more! This hour-long class will take you on a guided tour of the site. Be sure to bring your valid library card. Classes will be held on the following days and please note the times: March 12 (10:00AM), March 19 (10:00AM), March 23 (2:00PM) and March 30 (2:00PM).

How Do I Turn This On?

This class offers a very basic introduction to the personal computer: what they are, what they can do, why you may want one, parts of the PC, etc...There will also be practice time with the computer mouse

What Do I Do Next?

This class continues the introduction to the personal computer with further mouse practice, getting started with searching and an introduction to websites with a look at the Mid-York Home Page.

Getting Around in Windows

This class covers the basics of using Windows, such as: cutting and pasting, using files and folders, etc...

Introduction to the Internet

This class offers a basic introduction to the Internet: what it is, what you can do with it, explanation of Internet vocabulary and there will be some practice time with the search engine, Google.

Internet II

This class continues the introduction to the Internet with an overview of other search engines, searching tips and practice and a look at what makes a worthwhile web site.

Googling Around

This class will take a deeper look at the Internet search engine, Google, and will share some of the many things you can do with it.

Introduction to E-Mail

This class covers a basic introduction to E-mail: what it is, e-mail terms, accounts, online scams, etc...

E-Mail II

This class continues the introduction to e-mail with a focus on how to make and use attachments.

Introduction to Keyboarding

This class will cover the various parts and functions of the computer keyboard and show how to create and print a document.

"Why does it hurt when I do this?"

This class will show you how to search and use the online medical resources available through the Mid-York website.

"All the news that's fit to print"

This class will show you how to search and use the online newspaper resources available through the Mid-York website.

"I need to find an article"

This class will show you how to search and use the online resource for magazine articles known as Proquest Platinum, available on the Mid-York website.

"Curling up with a good book"

This class will show you how to search and use the online resource for finding information on books and authors known as Novelist, available on the Mid-York website.

(Dates): Wednesday, May 12
